A CITY OF NOVI FACILITY SINCE 1998
The Novi Ice Arena was developed in response to a growing regional demand for indoor ice facilities and opened its doors in September 1998. The project originated through a public-private partnership involving the City of Novi, Community Clubs of Novi and Center Ice Management. The project ultimately transitioned to the City of Novi Building Authority, which constructed the arena and leased it to the City. Construction was financed through revenue bonds supported primarily by revenue generated through arena operations.
After the original financing bonds were paid in full, ownership of the approximately 15-acre property was formally transferred to the City of Novi in 2015.

The City initially operated the arena directly. In 1999, the City entered into a management agreement with Suburban Sports Group to provide professional management and operation of the facility.
Today, the Novi Ice Arena remains a City of Novi-owned public facility, with day-to-day operations and programming managed by Suburban Sports Group. This partnership allows the City to maintain an important community recreational asset while benefiting from Suburban’s specialized experience in ice arena management and programming.
