COVID-19 Updates

Update as of June 1st, 2020

On June 1, the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order for the state of Michigan was lifted. However, our ice arenas are amongst the businesses that are still prohibited from reopening under the current executive order.

The executive order that affects our ice arenas states, "Indoor services or facilities, or outdoor services or facilities involving close contact of persons, for amusement or other recreational or entertainment purposes, such as amusement parks, arcades, bingo halls, bowling alleys, indoor climbing facilities, indoor dance areas, skating rinks, trampoline parks, and other similar recreational or entertainment facilities remain closed."

Please be assured that we will continue to prepare our ice arena to safely reopen as soon as these restrictions are lifted. We are happy to inform all of you that in anticipation of opening soon, we have begun the process of installing our ice this week to be ready for when we are given the green light to open.

Update as of Tuesday, March 24th:

Like the entire community, we continue to follow the guidance of federal, state and local government officials to do our part to help slow down the COVID-19 pandemic. We extend our thoughts and best wishes to all of you as we weather this unprecedented situation. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and those who might be vulnerable around you.

As you know, we have temporarily closed the facility and suspended all activity at this point. Additionally, we have taken the step of shutting down the ice plant and taking the ice out as a maintenance and cost-saving measure. We have developed a plan, that given the uncertainty of the times, is nimble and dynamic, to be ready to re-open just as soon as we are given the clearance by government authorities. Our staff is prepared to reinstall the ice as quickly as possible, in an effort to get our teams, leagues and programs back up and running.

In addition, we are in regular communication with USA Hockey, the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association and US Figure Skating and have contingency plans for team tryouts, spring programs, summer hockey schools, freestyle figure skating, learn to skate programs and recreational skating.

Sports not only gives us physical and mental skills, it brings us a sense of community and belonging. Having to pause those connections is difficult on everyone. This is clearly a major adjustment in our lives, but something we can overcome. Please continue to follow the advice of our health professionals in order to stay healthy. Stay home, wash your hands and keep practicing safe social distancing.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible. We will continue to post updates on our website to keep you informed, and in the meantime ask for your continued patience as we try our best to navigate these very uncertain and constantly changing times.

Be safe and hope to see you soon!

All Programming Suspended

The Novi Ice Arena has decided to temporarily close the facility to the public and suspend all programming effective close of business today (Saturday, March 14, 2020).

While we have taken significant steps to ensure we are operating under restrictions mandated by all federal, state, and local government agencies - including enhanced cleaning and disinfecting as well as monitoring the number of people in the building at all times - we still feel that this is a unique time that requires a more definitive pause in our everyday interactions.

We ask for your understanding and patience during this unprecedented time and as we work through the logistics of this temporary closure.

We will continue to closely monitor developments regarding COVID-19 and will resume operations and our programming once we deem the situation appropriate to do so. In the meantime, we will provide pertinent updates via our social media channels and here on our website.

Friday, March 13th at 6:00pm:  Due to recent state mandates on public safety and the COVID-19 virus, our staff has decided that we will be canceling all Public Skate from Friday, March 13th – Sunday, March 15th.

Thursday, March 12th at 5:00pm:  The Novi Youth Hockey Association (NYHA) has chosen to cancel their upcoming ice times.

Thursday, March 12th at 2:00pm:  The Novi Ice Arena is operating as normally scheduled. However, following the lead of the City of Novi, we have chosen to postpone Learn to Skate classes and the Hockey Development Program through Saturday, March 21st.
